About Coach Scott Ellis
This is my 2nd year at Bonham High School and my 11th year in education. In addition to coaching, I also teach Outdoor Education at BHS. A graduate of Plano Senior High School, I earned my degree in Kinesiology from North Texas University in 2006. Before coming to BHS, I was the head assistant basketball coach at The Colony High School, where they made the playoffs 8 out of 9 years. I have also been an assistant at the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game in 2011. I have been married for 8 years to my beautiful wife, Jamie, who is also a teacher. We have two wonderful children - Greyson, 6, and Grant, 2.
I am truly honored to be the head basketball coach at Bonham High School. My coaching staff and I have the wonderful opportunity to work with some outstanding young men on a daily basis. I believe we have a tremendous responsibility to try to do all we can to help these young men become the best they are capable of becoming both on the court and off. This is a responsibility that this coaching staff takes very seriously.
If someone were to ask me what the mission statement of the Bonham High School boys’ basketball program was, I would state it something like this: We want to win or perform to our potential with good kids who graduate, and through these experiences with our basketball program are better prepared for life after high school. For this to happen I believe our coaching staff has to set high standards for our players, and try to instil in them some very important values along the way.
"What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player" -John Wooden
