A message from our Athletic Director
In Bonham ISD our coaches welcome all students to participate in our interscholastic sports programs. Sports are an excellent way to grow emotionally as an individual. As a former high school and collegiate athlete, I know that athletics played a major role in helping prepare me for college and the adult world. Because of sports, the lessons of my coaches, and the games I played, I developed skills in time management, problem solving, delegation, motivation, and team building. As a community let's take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and encourage all of our students to consider participating in one of our many sports programs. We have something for everyone who is willing to give us a try.
Bonham Warrior Area Playoffs
No. 3 Madison Trojans 68, Bonham 58
by Allen Rich
McKinney, Texas -- A record-breaking year for the Bonham Warriors came to a close in the area round with a 10-point loss to the Dallas Madison Trojans, currently ranked No. 3 in Class 3A.
Bonham looked inside to Josh Ukpe for the first basket of the game, but Madison managed to double up on the Warriors, 16-8, as the opening period ended.
Madison continued to pull away in the second quarter and the Trojans took a 16-point lead, 38-22, into the locker room at halftime.
Bonham battled back in the second half when Tanner Reaves knocked down four three-pointers and Upke hit three triples as the Warriors whittled Madison's lead down to two points, 55-53.
But Madison finished the game with 15-3 run to post a 68-58 win.
Bonham senior Josh Ukpe completed a stellar career with a game-high 31 point performance against the number three team in Class 3A.
Tanner Reaves dropped in a dozen points, Noah Shellman scored seven, Tyler Rodriguez tossed in six points and Cam Reed put up two points.
Jody Legans led Madison with 23 points and Jerome Rogers knocked down 19 points.
The Trojans advance to take on the winner of Mineola/Leonard in the regional quarterfinals.
The Bonham Warriors treated their fans to a school-record 26 wins, including Bonham's first playoff victory in 71 years.
BI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONS
Warriors advance to Area
by Allen Rich
If the Bonham Warriors took a little extra time to cut down the net after their bi-district win over the Gunter Tigers, they certainly had every reason to relish the moment. After all, Harry Truman was president the last time the Bonham Warriors won a playoff game in basketball back in 1948, so Tuesday night's victory was the Warriors' first basketball playoff win in 71 years.
Bi-district action in boys basketball got underway Tuesday, February 19 with the Bonham Warriors defeating the Gunter Tigers, 66-53.
Bonham entered the playoffs as the number two seed out of District 10-3A, while Gunter placed third in District 9-3A.
In a sign of things to come, Bonham senior Josh Ukpe scored the first seven points of the game. The Warriors were up 17-12 after the first quarter and 33-24 at the half.
Bonham had a 17-point cushion, 56-39, heading into the fourth quarter and cruised to a 66-53 win in front of a large crowd that made the trip to Denison.
Josh Ukpe led all scorers with 33 points. Tanner Reaves loosened up the defense with six three-point shots and finished with 20 points.
Cam Reed scored six, Gaige Cravin finished with four points, Brandon Dona had two points and Noah Shellman sank a free throw to round out the scoring for the Warriors. Although Tyler Rodriguez didn't show up in the scorebook, the senior point guard contributed with pinpoint passing and quickness on defense.
It was a team victory that put an exclamation mark behind the school-record 26-win season the Warriors have enjoyed under first-year head coach Chris Williams.
Gunter put up a valiant battle, with Zander Turner finishing with 24 points, Kyle Watson tossed in 10 points and Kobe Hunter knocked down nine points.
Bonham improves to 26-5 with the victory and will face No. 3 Madison in the area round Friday, February 22 at McKinney High School. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

It was a barn-burner in Bonham Tuesday night as the Bonham Warriors and the Whitewright Tigers opened District 10-3A competition with a nine-inning thriller.
After the first two innings were scoreless, Whitewright went up 1-0 in the top of the third and stretched its lead to 4-0 in the fourth frame.
Another run by Whitewright in the top of the fifth gave the Lady Tigers a 5-0 lead, but Bonham scored four runs in the bottom half of the frame to whittle Whitewright's advantage down to 5-4.
Neither team scored in the sixth inning, however Whitewright plated a runner in the top of the seventh to go up 6-4.
Bonham came through with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
After a scoreless eighth inning, Whitewright broke the deadlock when sophomore Kyleigh Clements singled to center field to drive in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning. A throwing error allowed the Lady Tigers to tack on another run.

Indian track Meet @ Anna
As coaches we are very proud of the effort these boys brought to each of their events. Despite competing against much larger teams, the boys gave everything they had to every event and it was apparent to all who were there.
We set a standard for these young men at the beginning of the season that, win or lose, we would compete with heart and class. Multiple coaches approached us as a coaching staff to commend the boys on how they carried themselves at this meet, and for that we are very proud!
Unfortunately, we did not have any athletes place for a ribbon or medal as medals were only given to top three in this meet, but that competitive drive put many of our athletes just outside the placing for points. I look forward to being able to celebrate with some individuals next week that cross over into the placing, but this week it is all about celebrating the team and the way they represented Bonham. Way to go guys!!!
