Our athletic administration, staff, and coaches are committed to providing a challenging, supportive and caring environment where our student-athletes can reach their academic, athletic and personal potential. We expect our coaches, athletes and spectators to conduct themselves in a manner that shows respect and sportsmanship when we interact with opposing teams, coaches, fans and contest officials. We have had a successful athletic year in Bonham ISD thus far. And we all look forward to the Winter and Spring seasons. If I can ever help you please contact me. Howe Lady Bulldogs 58, Bonham 33

The Howe Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-0 in District 10-3A and completed a sweep of the first round of district action with a 25-point win over the Bonham Lady Warriors.
Bonham match Howe point-for-point in the early minutes and the Lady Warriors pulled even at 11-11 on a triple by Averi Reeves.
Howe took control with a 14-1 run as the Lady Bulldogs led, 29-19 at the half.
Howe opened the third period with a 16-1 run and went on to earn a 58-33 win on the road.
Averi Reeves and Melanee Lewis both finished with 14 points to lead Bonham and Haleigh Solano put up five points.
Van Alstyne Lady Panthers 50, Bonham 41

The Bonham Lady Warriors were on the road against the Van Alstyne Lady Panthers and both teams came into this contest at 2-2 in District 10-3A.
Van Alstyne took a 3-0 lead on a triple by Avery Duncan and the Panthers picked up eight points in the paint by Maegan Thomas as Van Alstyne led 16-4 at the end of the first quarter. Melanee Lewis had Bonham's points on a pair of baskets.
Averi Reeves had seven points in the second period, Lewis hit two more buckets and Journi Shellman hit a three-pointers as the Lady Warriors whittled Van Alstyne's lead down to 23-18 at the half.
Reeves nailed a triple early in the third period to make it a two-point game, 23-21, but that would be as close as Bonham would get on this night.
Van Alstyne led 40-34 going into the fourth quarter and pulled away late for a 50-41 victory.
Melanee Lewis led Bonham with 19 points, Averi Reeves scored 16, while Journi Shellman and Mary Dunigan each had three points.
Bells Lady Panthers 54, Bonham 41

After enjoying the holiday break, District 10-3A competition resumed Friday with the Bonham Lady Warriors hosting the Bells Lady Panthers.
The Lady Warriors came into the contest at 2-1 in District 10-3A, with wins over Whitewright and Blue Ridge, as well as a loss to Leonard.
With a victory over Leonard and losses to Van Alstyne and Howe, the Lady Panthers came into Friday's game with a 1-2 district mark.
It was all Bells in the opening period as the Lady Panthers jumped out to a 22-10 lead. Bells stretched its advantage to 30-15 before an 8-0 run by the Lady Warriors trimmed the margin down to 30-23 at the half.
Bonham only trailed by two points, 38-36, as the third quarter ended and a long deuce by Mary Dunigan early in the fourth quarter lifted Bonham to within one point of the lead, 39-38, however Bells responded with a 15-0 run to put the game away en route to a 54-41 district win on the road.
Averi Reeves led the Lady Warriors with 16 points, Melanee Lewis finished with 14 points, Carsyn Hemby had four points, Emma Bounds put up three points, while Mary Dunigan and Chyrsi Hemby both pitched in two points.
Bells junior Haley Arledge led all scorers with 17 points, Alexis Grove put up 13 points, Gabby Smith scored nine, Cheznie Hale had seven points, Mia Moore finished with four points and Courtney Davidson dropped in three points.

Lady Warriors compete in Leonard Holiday Tournament

The Bonham Lady Warriors had a two-point lead in the second half before the Pottsboro Lady Cardinals rallied for a five-point win in the opening round of the 58th Annual Leonard Holiday Tournament.
Pottsboro had a two-point lead at halftime, but a triple by Averi Reeves helped Bonham slip in front, 22-20, late in the third period. The teams were all knotted up at 22-22 heading into the fourth quarter.
Pottsboro's defense limited Bonham to five points down the stretch as the Lady Cardinals went on to pick up a 33-38 victory.
Averi Reeves led Bonham with 10 points, Melanee Lewis put up eight points and Haleigh Solano finished with four points.
The Bonham Lady Warriors edged the Honey Grove Lady Warriors in the opening round of the Community Basketball Tournament Thursday morning.
Honey Grove led for the first half, but a strong second half carried Bonham to a 36-33 win. Averi Reeves led Bonham with 13 points and Melanie Lewis was also in double figures with 12 points.
Chyrsi Hemby finished with five points, Carsyn Hemby had four points and Emma Bounds hit a free throw.
The Bonham Lady Warriors got off to a fast start and cruised to a 29-point win over the visiting Commerce Lady Tigers.
Bonham jumped out in front 8-0 and the Lady Warriors were up 12-3 after the first quarter. Bonham was on top, 24-13, at intermission.
The Lady Warriors outscored Commerce 24-6 during the final two periods to give Bonham a 48-19 victory.
Bonham junior Averi Reeves led all scorers with 26 points, Melanee Lewis put up 13 points, Mary Dunigan finished with five points, Emma Bounds had three points and Haleigh Solano sank a free throw.

Bonham Warriors 70, Howe 37

Bonham senior Josh Ukpe hit six triples and poured in a game-high 35 points to propel the Bonham Warriors to a 33-point win over the Howe Bulldogs.
Ukpe, Noah Shellman, Tanner Reaves and Can Reed all knocked down three pointers as Bonham built a 23-8 lead in the first quarter.
The Warriors led 39-25 at halftime and continued to distance Howe during the final two periods to post a 70-37 win in front of a jubilant Bonham crowd.
Tanner Reaves joined Ukpe in double digits with 10 points, Noah Shellman knocked down nine points, Tyler Rodriguez finished with five points, Brandon Dona and Gaige Cravin both put up four points and Cam Reed had three points.
Bonham Warriors nip Van Alstyne at buzzer

With their district winning streak on the line and trailing a spirited Van Alstyne team 43-41 with four seconds on the clock and the ball under their own basket, Bonham senior Josh Ukpe took the inbounds pass, sprinted through the defense and knocked down a three-pointer at the final buzzer to give the Bonham Warriors a wild 44-43 victory on the road.
Van Alstyne and Bonham were tied, 9-9, at the end of the first quarter, but Van Alstyne took a 24-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Van Alstyne had a double-digit lead, 37-27, as the fourth quarter got underway and the Panthers were still up by 10 points, 39-29, with six minutes remaining in the game.
Bonham senior point guard Tyler Rodriguez hit a bank shot and followed with a floater in the lane on the Warrior's next possession. Tanner Reeves drained a triple and suddenly it was a three-point game, with Bonham trailing, 39-36.
Upke hit a three-pointer and then sliced through the lane for a lay-up, however Van Alstyne had a two-point lead, 43-41, with four seconds showing on the clock.
Upke took the inbounds pass, raced through the Panther defense, and put up the game-winning triple at the buzzer for a thrilling one-point win, 44-43.
Josh Ukpe hit six three-pointers and led all scorers with 25 points, Tyler Rodriguez put up 13 points, Tanner Reeves finished with five points and Cam Reed hit a free throw.
Bonham Warriors 74, Bells 45

Bonham's Tanner Reaves and Josh Ukpe combined to score 54 points as the Warriors moved to 3-0 in District 10-3A with a 29-point win over the Bells Panthers.
Bells jumped out to a 6-2 lead, but a three-pointer by Bonham point guard Tyler Rodriguez gave the Warriors a 7-6 lead. Tanner Reaves followed with a triple and Josh Ukpe knocked down a pair of three-pointers as Bonham reeled off a 14-0 run to go up 16-6. The Warriors had an 18-8 advantage as the first quarter ended.
Bonham sophomore Tanner Reaves hit five three-pointers in the second period and the Warriors led, 39-29, at halftime.
Bonham poured in 24 points in the third quarter, highlighted by an alley-oop pass from Rodriguez to Ukpe to give the Warriors a 63-39 cushion heading into the fourth quarter.
Bonham finished the night with a 74-45 district win.
Tanner Reaves had eight triples and a game-high 28 points, while Josh Ukpe was only two points off the pace with 26 points.
Tyler Rodriguez put up seven points, Cam Reed scored six, Gaige Cravin hit a triple, with Brant Stuber and Brandon Dona both pitching in two points.
Priest led Bells with 15 points and Hawthorne dropped in a dozen points.
Bonham (3-0) travels to Van Alstyne on Tuesday, January 8, while Bells will host Whitewright.
Warriors compete in Leonard Holiday Tournament

As the 58th Annual Leonard Holiday Tournament moves towards the semifinals, the Pottsboro Cardinals proved they are in it to win it with a 28-point win over the Bonham Warriors in the tournament quarterfinals.
Bonham found Pottsboro's man defense to be impenetrable in the first quarter as the Cardinals put together a 17-0 run.
In the second period, the Warriors got a brief boost from three-pointers by Josh Ukpe and Tyler Rodriguez, but Pottsboro had a 20-point lead, 29-9, at halftime and the Cardinals went on to put a 66-38 win in the books.
Josh Ukpe led Bonham with 23 points, Tanner Reaves had eight points, Tyler Rodriguez tossed in five points and Gaige Cravin put in two points.
After falling to Pottsboro, the Bonham Warriors bounced back in a big way with runaway wins over Leonard and S&S in action at the 2018 Leonard Holiday Tournament.
Bonham had three players in double figures in a 60-28 win over Leonard. Josh Ukpe led the Warriors with 18 points, while Tyler Rodriguez and Noah Shellman both scored 10.
Tanner Reaves knocked down nine points, Brant Stuber had five points, Brandon Dona put up four points, with Cam Reed and Gaige Cravin pitching in two points apiece.
Bonham followed up with a 71-38 win over S&S. Josh Ukpe scorched the nets for 30 points and Tanner Reaves had an impressive outing with 19 points. Gaige Cravin knocked down nine points, Noah Shellman finished with five points, Tyler Rodriguez had four points, Cam Reed put in two points, while Brandon Dona and Brant Stuber both hit a free throw.
Bonham breezed through the opening round of the 58th Annual Leonard Holiday Tournament with a 44-point win over Lone Oak, but Bonham will face a stiff test in the second round of this tournament.
Bonham overpowered Lone Oak from the start when the Warriors opened the game with a 24-3 run. Bonham built a 38-7 cushion at halftime and cruised to a 73-29 win.
Nine Warriors scratched the scorebook, with Josh Ukpe leading the way with 16 points. Tanner Reaves put up 11 points and Dylan Karl was also in double digits with 10 points.

Bonham Warriors 62, Blue Ridge 44

The Bonham Warriors moved to 2-0 in District 10-3A with an 18-point win at Blue Ridge.
The Warriors jump-started this victory with a 15-2 run in the first quarter and never looked back. Bonham led 28-18 at halftime and then held Blue Ridge to five points in the third period to build a 26-point cushion going into the fourth quarter before cruising to a 62-44 district win on the road.
Josh Ukpe led Bonham with 23 points and Tanner Reaves dropped in a dozen points to finish in double figures.
Noah Shellman had nine points, Tyler Rodriguez tossed in eight points, Brandon Dona finished with five points, Dylan Karl dropped in three points and Cam Reed put up two points.
Bonham Warriors 53, Whitewright 48

The Bonham Warriors opened District 10-3A with a five-point win over the Whitewright Tigers.
Bonham jumped out to a 7-0 lead after Josh Ukpe and Tyler Rodriguez hit baskets and Noah Shellman knocked down a three-pointer.
The Warriors led 10-4 after the first quarter and 26-20 at halftime.
Bonham built a double-digit cushion and then turned back Whitewright in the final minutes to post a 53-48 win in the district opener.
Bonham's Josh Ukpe led all scorers with 27 points, Noah Shellman scored 13, Tyler Rodriguez put up seven points, Tanner Reaves finished with four points and Brandon Dona dropped in two points.

Bonham senior Josh Ukpe had another big game with 33 points to lead the Warriors to a five-point win over the Class 4A Anna Coyotes.
Bonham put together a 12-4 run in the first quarter and the Warriors were up 27-15 at the half.
Anna made its move in the third period, whittling Bonham's advantage down to one point, 33-32. The Warriors responded with a strong fourth quarter to notch a 52-47 win.
Tanner Reaves tossed in 10 points to join Ukpe in double figures.
Noah Shellman finished with five points and Brandon Dona dropped in four points.

Another Class 5A team fell victim to the Bonham Warriors Saturday when Bonham outscored Lake Dallas, 76-71, during competition at the Highway 5 Basketball Tournament.
Lake Dallas and Bonham were all knotted up at 34-34 after the second period, but Bonham pulled ahead in the third quarter and went on to put a 76-71 win in the books.
Josh Ukpe and Tanner Reaves combined to score 56 points, with Ukpe pouring in 35 points and Reaves putting up 21 points.
Brandon Dona knocked down nine points, Tyler Rodriguez scored seven and Cam Reed finished with four points.

After opening the Hwy 5 Basketball Tournament with a pair of losses to Class 4A teams, the Bonham Warriors bounced back into the win column at the expense of Class 5A Denison.
This one was close all the way, with Bonham on top, 19-18, at the first buzzer and 34-32 at halftime.
Denison tied the game, 45-45, heading into the fourth quarter, but Bonham finished strong to post a 65-59 victory.
Josh Ukpe led three Warriors in double figures with 26 points. Tyler Rodriguez poured in 19 points and Tanner Reaves put up 12 points.
Noah Shellman scored three, while Cam Reed and Brant Stuber both pitched in two points.

Josh Upke and Tyler Rodriguez combined to score 55 points in a 25-point win at Caddo Mills as the Warriors moved to 8-0 on the season.
Bonham's defense only allowed four points in the first quarter as Bonham took a 15-4 lead into the second period. The Warriors led, 37-16, at the half.
Bonham had a 54-31 cushion going into the fourth quarter and the Warriors finished strong for a 73-48 win on the road.
Bonham's Josh Ukpe led the scoring with 33 points and Tyler Rodriguez also had a big night with 22 points.
Tanner Reaves scored six, Noah Shellman and Brant Stuber both finished with four points, while Gaige Cravin and Cam Reed pitched in two points apiece.

7b came out first. They won 10-8 A. Salinas had two and Starla Gorden had eight.
8b played a good defensive game. The score was tied at 6 with 3 seconds remaining in the game and A. Garcia made the go ahead free throw to win it 7-6. Five of our seven points came from free throws by: E. Sparks, J. Pearson, E. Koontz, and S. LaRue. A. Garcia also made a bucket for a total of 3 points.
7a hustled but fell to Howe 42 to 9. Scorers were J. McMahon, A. Dona, A. Vaught, and Sahara Gorden with two each and D. Williams with a free throw.
8a was an exciting game. We led the first three quarters, but foul trouble let Howe back in the game in the fourth quarter. We made the go ahead shot with seconds left on the clock to win 33-31. scoring for the Lady Indians: K. Stevenson 3, B. Rodriguez 15, and B. Killgo 15.

7b fought hard but came up short 4-8. M. Smith and L. Godbey had 2 points each.
8b fell 5-23. They could not get a bucket to drop all night. A. Fuller and A. Eaches had 2 and D. Wilson had a free throw.
7a- lost 12-23. They hit their groove in the third quarter, but ran out of time to catch up.L. Englutt had 2. R. Shockley, and Starla Gorden had 3. A. Dona had 4.
8a- Got in foul trouble early and could recover, losing 20-31. B. Rodriguez scored a free throw. B. Killgo had 13, and A. Kirkpatrick scored 6.
8A places 3rd Ector Tournament
Our first match up was with Dodd City. Once again we got into foul trouble and gave up double digit points to free throws. we lost 14-40. B. Killgo had 8, B. Rodriguez, A. Andrew and V. Royse each had 2 points.
We played Savoy for the third place trophy and came away with a big win 32-6. M. Cox had 2 points, V. Royse, A. Andrew, and E. Koontz each had 3 points, B. Rodriguez had 4 points and B. Killgo had 17.
We face Whitewright on 1/24 in Whitewright.
7A Lady Indians Basketball
7th Grade Boys Basketball
Wk 3 Bells
7A boys fell to Bells 34-29. The boys came back from a 12 point deficit, but ran out of time to get over the hump. The character these young men showed to come back and compete is a testimony to their work ethic. Micheal Cox led with 9 points and Dakota Williams was next with 6 points.
Wk 4 Van Alstyne
7B boys lost to Van Alstyne 46-6. Although, the team was missing a few key players, our boys never gave up and continued to hustle and work throughout the game. Ely Longoria, Joseph Gordon, and Josue Castelan each had 2 points.
7A boys Lost to Van Alstyne 31-17. It was a tough battle for the Indians as they fought short-handed missing severall The difference in the game was several key players. It was a competitive game until the final period when foul trouble and fatigue finally caught up with them. Anthony Fields led the scoring with 6 and Darien Yarborough put in 4.
Wk 5 Howe
7B boys got the loss 13-12 against Howe It was a tight game throughout when with 22 seconds left Ely Longoria hit a game tying 3 point field goal. With a few seconds left, a judgement call of blocking or a charge went Howes way to send them to the foul line. The Howe player made a free throw to give the Indians the loss. Mathew Hines led the scoring at 5 and Ely had 3.
7A boys fell to Howe 40-12. It was a frustrating night for the Indians as they had to go through some adversity. It was a time to learn that they could only control the things that they were in control of. It was a teachable moment that will help in their growth and development. Kris Kerby led the scoring with 3 and several others with 2.
Wk 6
A combined B boys lost 28-13 against Leonard. 18 seventh and eighth graders teamed up to take on the Tigers. The game remained close until the 2nd half when the defense began to unravel for the Indians. 8th grader Jayden Potter lead the scoring with 4 points while Jaggar Lyndsey pouring in 3.
7A boys fell to Leonard 22-12.The difference in the game was several missed lay-ups. Many of those lay-ups were missed late in the game. Hunter Hagland led the scoring with 4 and Braedon Benson next with 3.
8th Grade Basketball
With a new taste for winning and a continued positive environment, I look forward to what the rest of the season holds for these boys. I am so proud of each and every one of them!!!
