A message from our Athletic Director
The Bonham Students and Community as Servant Leaders
Servant leadership is a philosophy and a set of practices that enrich the lives of individuals, build better organizations and ultimately create a more just and caring world. There are many servant leaders in our community. To be a servant leader there are several traits that one must possess:
Be True to Yourself
A leader is a person who others naturally gravitate to and through this connection, improve the leadership and productivity of others towards completing the organization's goals.
Put People over Processes
No organization will be successful until the leader surrounds the organization with talented and committed employees.
Have a Plan
Once others believe in your convictions and commitment to the organization they need to know you have a plan
Communicate and then Communicate Again
Communication is the key to getting all the moving parts working in synchronized fashion.
Prioritize
The role of a leader can take on a life of its own and should be prescriptive and not descriptive.
The beginning of this 2018-2019 school year has given us many examples of servant leadership not only from the administrators and coaches within our school district. But more importantly from the students and community who have shown great examples of servant leadership. Our students and community have taken the traits above along with the examples of servant leadership shown by our administration, faculty, staff, and has begun to help each other. From the beginning of another great school year with all of the flexibility needed to move into a new building to the challenges that have been put before our students and their families. The school district and community of Bonham work together as servant leaders!!

This game was delayed because of bad weather and lightning struck 19 seconds into the game in the form of a 75-yard touchdown run by Bonham quarterback Tyler Rodriquez.
Later in the first quarter, a fumble by Leonard gave Bonham the ball back and Dylan Karl went in from eight yards out. The PAT by Nick Rhineheart gave the Warriors a 14-0 lead as the first period came to an end.
In the second period, a long run by Noah Shellman set up a 16-yard touchdown pass from Rodriguez to Jerrell Stewart. The PAT was unsuccessful, giving Bonham a 20-0 lead.
After having two drives end in fumbles, Leonard got on the scoreboard on a short touchdown run by Nate Harris to make the score 20-7.
It only took one play from the line of scrimmage for Bonham to strike back when Rodriguez connected with Stewart for another scoring strike, this one coming from 60 yards out. The Warriors had a 27-7 cushion at the half.
It was more of the same in the third period, with Rodriguez hitting Shellman with a 23-yard touchdown pass, Karl had his second rushing TD on a 30-yard sprint to the goal line, and Niyee Boston took a pick-six to pay dirt for a 48-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
A scoreless final frame gave Bonham a 41-point win in Leonard.

Warriors move to 3-1 with win over Hillcrest
by Allen Rich
With rain forecast for most of North Texas on Friday, the Bonham Warriors and Dallas Hillcrest Panthers played under Thursday night lights at Loos Stadium in Addison.
After a rain delay, the game got underway at 8:30 p.m. and five plays later Bonham had a 7-0 lead, courtesy of a 10-yard TD pass from Tyler Rodriguez to Noah Shellman and the PAT by Nick Rhineheart.
The Panthers struck just as quickly when Nasir Reynolds raced 52 yards to make the score 7-7
Bonham answered with Rodriguez's second TD pass of the night, this time to Rhineheart as Bonham went up 14-7.
The Warriors' defense held and the Bonham offense went back to work. Rodriguez and Jerrell Stewart teamed up on a 36-yard touchdown pass that gave the Warriors a 21-7 lead.
The defense got in on the action when Ryan Robertson and Chris Wilson teamed up on a safety that stretched Bonham's lead to 23-7.
Rodriguez got his fourth scoring strike of the night when the senior signal-caller hit Stewart on a 10-yard TD pass that gave Bonham a 30-7 cushion as the second period got underway.
Robertson came up with a sack on fourth down to turn the ball over. This time, Rodriguez did it on the ground, racing 25 yards to pay dirt. The PAT by Rhineheart gave the Warriors a 30-point lead, 37-7, midway through the second quarter.
The Panthers managed to score their second TD of the night, but Rodriguez responded with his fifth touchdown pass of the first half on a 25-yard TD toss to Rhineheart. The PAT made the score 44-13.
Hillcrest quarterback Gabriel Granados scored on a short keeper to narrow the gap to 44-20 at halftime.
Renolds, the Panthers' big-play specialist, got loose for a 70-yard scoring jaunt that cut Bonham's lead to 44-27.
Rodriguez hit Rhineheart for a 25-yard TD pass and Shellman scored from 13 yards out to give the Warriors a 57-27 cushion heading into the final frame.
A field goal by Rhineheart and a TD run by Dylan Karl gave the Warriors a 40-point lead, 67-27.
Hillcrest tacked on a late TD, giving the Warriors a 67-34 win on the road.
The Bonham Warriors will open District 5-3A competition Friday, September 28 in Howe. Dallas Hillcrest will pay a visit to Pinkston High School.

Warriors move to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in District
By Allen Rich
The Bonham Warriors improve to 4-1 on the year and 1-0 in district 5-3A after another explosive performance that resulted in a 49-26 win over the Howe Bulldogs.
There were plenty of superlatives to pass around.
Bonham senior quarterback Tyler Rodriguez threw five touchdown passes. Noah Shellman snagged three of those scoring strikes and also electrified the crowd with a 70-yard kickoff return for another TD. Jerrell Stewart and Nick Rhinehart each had touchdown receptions. The defense got in on the fun, too, when linebacker Ryan Robinson scooped up a fumble and raced 25 yards to pay dirt.
But it was the defense that got this all started. Howe took the opening kickoff and methodically drove 60 yards to the Warrior one-foot line. However, on fourth-and-goal from the one-foot line, the Bulldogs ran right at 6'6", 350-pound Chris Wilson and the middle of a Warrior defense that refused to budge.
The only score in the first quarter would come on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Rodriguez to Shellman. Rhinehart booted the first of his seven PATs on the night and Bonham was up, 7-0.
Howe got on the scoreboard early in the second period when Howe quarterback Layton Elvington froze the Bonham defense with play action and then found Arturo Lowder behind the Warrior secondary for a 32-yard TD pass. Elvington went back to Lowder on a successful two-point conversion that gave Howe an 8-7 lead.
Twenty seconds later Rodriguez hit Stewart for a 30-yard touchdown pass.
Elvington scored on a 10-yard keeper to tie the game, 14-14, when the two-point conversion failed.
Rodriguez lofted a screen pass to Rhinehart that went for a nine-yard touchdown that put Bonham back on top, 21-14.
Howe running back Cameron Blesi earned his spot on the highlight reel with a 77-yard sprint down the hometown sidelines, but the PAT failed and Bonham took a 21-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, a long scramble by Rodriguez set up an 11-yard TD pass to Shellman as the Warriors stretched their advantage to 28-20.
Early in the fourth quarter, it was Rodriguez connecting with Shellman again, this time on a six-yard screen pass that went for six points as the lead ballooned to 35-20.
Elvington scored on a one-yard dive but the Shellman took the ensuing kickoff 70 yards to the house and Bonham had breathing room with a 42-26 lead.
Ryan Robinson iced the win with a 25-yard touchdown on a fumble return and Bonham put a 49-26 win in the books.
Howe will travel to Emory-Rains next Friday.

Indians vs. Blue Ridge
The offense were not the only ones to show up ready to play Thursday night, The defense made a statement causing 4 turnovers to hold Blueridge to 6 points. Blueridge mad one long drive to start the game to put the first points on the scoreboard and the Indians shut them out for the rest of the game. Up front, on the defensive line, Bradley Carruth-Vega stood out for his ability to get into the backfield to make a few tackles for a loss including a sack fumble and recovery! Two other defensive players who really impressed the coaches were Osman Artega and Adolfo Ruiz who really showed an ability to find the ball carrier and bring him down with authority.
If Thursday night was any indicator of how much success our Grey Team may be, then it will be a fun season for us here at L.H. Rather.
The LH Rather White team had a great beginning of the season with an 18-0 win over Leonard. The offense put 12 points on the board while the defense put up 6 with a “scoop and score” by Payton Hayes. The offense was led by Alex Helms at quarterback and Austyn Herrington at running back. The offensive line, led by Braden Benson and Anthony Fields, did their job of opening holes for Herrington and Helms. The defense was outstanding while giving up zero points on their first outing. The defensive line did an awesome job allowing the linebacker crew, led by Hunter Hagland, to stop nearly every play. It was truly a team effort and show the work these boys put in at practice paid off.
The LH Rather Purple team had a struggle on their hands for the season opener. At half time, the score was 12-12. Coming out half time with a new energy, the new Warrior Offensive system took hold. Quarterback Jaren Ross was able to escape for two long runs and deliver a knockout touchdown pass to Fernando Delgado. The defense also did its job in the second half by only allowing one touchdown. With the defensive line anchored by Isaiah “Kool-Aid” Reynolds and Linebackers (led by Jackson Abbott and Canaan Farley), the Leonard Tigers couldn’t keep up with our high scoring offense as the LH Rather Indians win 30-18.

Indian Offense
Indians vs. Howe
8th Grade Purple team won 34-22.
In the first quarter Jaron Ross scored early on a 30 yard run. 2 pt. conversion was good with Canaan Farley running up the middle. Howe scored in the second quarter on a pass. But the Indians quickly responded with Ross scoring again on long outside run. The Indians led at the half 14-8. The third quarter belonged to the Indians once again. With much attention being paid to the Quarterback Ross, Canaan Farley benefitted getting most of the carries and scoring twice in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, Jackson Abbott got 45 yards on three carried. Abbott was very versatile playing 3 positions on offense. The Purple Indian Defense was outstanding. They flew to the ball carriers very fast and played aggressive. Cameron Bush, Elijah Reynolds, Farley, Abbott, and Ross had multiple tackles creating chaos for the Bulldogs. Overall, the Indians played very well.
The LH Rather White Team had a rough time with Howe Bulldogs losing 28-0. The offense had several good plays led by running back Austyn Harrington and receiver Hunter Hagland.
The defense didn't fair much better. Angel Esquivel was a standout that made several tackles and even prevented a touchdown on special teams. With the bye-week coming up, there will be extra time for improvement on our next game against Emory-Rains.

Lady Warriors move to 2-0 in District
by Allen Rich
Volleyball fans got their money's worth Friday when the Bonham Lady Warriors and the Leonard Lady Tigers battled for five sets before Bonham prevailed in the tiebreaker.
Leonard took the opener, 25-21, but Bonham responded with a 25-19 victory in the second set.
Leonard controlled the action to post a 25-14 win in the third set, however it was all Bonham in the fourth set as the Lady Warriors rolled to a 25-11 victory to even the match at 2-2 and send the teams back out onto the court for the tiebreaker.
When Leonard pulled in front, 4-2, Bonham called time out in hopes of regrouping before this important district match slipped away. The strategy worked when Bonham junior Averi Reeves knocked down three kills as Bonham took a 6-4 lead. A tough serve by Emma Bounds stretched the Lady Warriors' advantage to 7-4. Reeves and Raegan Shackelford put down kills to help Bonham put a 15-9 win in the books.
With the win, Bonham moves to 2-0 in District 10-3A, while the loss drops Leonard to 2-1.

Blue Ridge senior middle blocker Ellery Martin was the deciding factor in the fourth set, knocking down five kills as the Lady Tigers edged Bonham, 27-27.
